'Lone Ranger' Gets Johnny Depp, Gore Verbinski Back In The Saddle

"The Lone Ranger" isn't so lonely anymore. After much deliberating and negotiating, Disney has finally decided to move forward with Johnny Depp and Gore Verbinski's remake of "The Lone Ranger." Though the movie now has a green light (again), it won't start filming until next year and thus likely won't be able to maintain its original December 21, 2012 release date. Deadline has the details. Michael Fassbender Is "12 Years A Slave" After making "Hunger" and "Shame" together, Steve McQueen has cast Michael Fassbender in his upcoming film "12 Years a Slave." Variety broke the news, though they don't know what role he'll be playing. "12 Years a Slave" tells the true story of Solomon Northrup, a NY citizen who was kidnapped and forced to work on a cotton plantation in the South. Chiwetel Ejiofor will play Northrup. Eduardo Noriega Takes "The Last Stand" "The Last Stand" has finally landed its villain. Variety has learned that "Blackthorn" star Eduardo Noriega will be playing Cortez, a Mexican drug cartel leader trying to flee across the border with $400 million. Noriega will play opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in this Jee-woon Kim-directed action flick. Filming is scheduled to start on October 20 in Mexico, and "The Last Stand" is slated to hit theaters on January 18, 2013. Leonardo DiCaprio To Play Math Genius Add this to the long list of movies that Leonardo DiCaprio is potentially attached to. Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros has purchased a script about math genius Alan Turing with the intention that DiCaprio will star in it. First-time scribe Graham Moore wrote the film, called "The Imitation Game." So far DiCaprio is not officially attached. Jim Carrey Negotiating To Join "Burt Wonderstone" Funnyman Jim Carrey is in talks to join funnyman Steve Carell in the comedy "Burt Wonderstone." Can the world handle all the funny? Directed by Don Scardino, the flick follows a Las Vegas magician who splits with his longtime partner and ends up being upstaged by a hip street magician. Deadline has the news that Carell will play the title character, and it's unclear whether Carrey will play his former partner or his rival. Don Johnson Heads To "Django Unchained" "Nash Bridges" star Don Johnson is the latest actor to join Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained." Deadline learned he'll play Spencer Bennett, a wealthy plantation owner. "Django Unchained" is slated to start filming later this year, and is slated to hit theaters on December 25, 2012.
